PORTLAND HYPNOSIS INSTITUTE
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation, combined with focused concentration. People drift in and out of hypnotic states every day. If you’ve ever daydreamed in class, you’ve experienced a hypnotic state.
How Does Hypnosis Work?
While you relax, your subconscious mind develops tools and resources for change. Simply put, hypnosis re-programs your mind for success. To strengthen results, you'll receive a recording of your session for reinforcement
Can I be Hypnotized?
Since hypnosis is a natural state of relaxation, most people can enjoy its benefits. However, there are certain conditions where hypnosis is contraindicated, such as mania, psychosis, schizophrenia and involuntary hallucinations. If you've been diagnosed with one of these conditions, please consult with your physician to assess the safety of hypnosis for your particular situation.
How Many Hypnosis Sessions Will I Need?
Most clients notice significant improvement within 1-3 visits. Some goals can be achieved with a single session. For a free consultation, call or text (503) 621-4168.
Does Insurance Cover Hypnosis?
To find out if your plan covers hypnosis, call your insurance and ask if they cover hypnotherapy for stress management. Though we're unable to bill insurance directly, we can provide you with a receipt for reimbursement. Most Health Savings & Flex Spending cards are accepted in our office.
What Will a Hypnosis Session Feel Like?
Hypnosis sessions are calm and peaceful. During the first portion of your visit, we'll have a relaxed chat about your goal. When you're ready to begin the hypnosis portion of your session, you'll rest comfortably in a chair with your eyes closed.
Some people feel relaxed and drowsy under hypnosis, while others feel focused and alert. Either way, you'll remain in total control throughout your session. Our clients report feeling rested and refreshed after their sessions, with a positive energy that lasts throughout the day.
Is Hypnosis a Substitute for Therapy?
Hypnosis is not a substitute for traditional therapy, counseling, or medical care. Hypnotherapy is considered complementary to the healing arts licensed by the state. Hypnosis sessions are designed to enhance your capacity for change and to foster a positive mindset. Lay hypnotists and hypnotherapists are not licensed counselors. If you need medical or mental health care, we'll happily refer you to a licensed provider.
